Estate Clerk 

As the successful candidate you will have a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role. The experience should include preparing and managing probate applications, general administration of estate files, serving and filing documents with the court, and preparing general correspondence and routine documents. You will have excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask, all of which will assist you in working in this fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an asset for dealing effectively with clients and other lawyers and professionals in the interests of our clients. Experience with MS Office is a must and knowledge in the applications of PC Law, Estate-a-Base, and Emergent are considered an asset.  Please send all cover letters and resumes to careers@svlaw.ca by September 30th, 2018.

Law Clerk/Legal Assistant – Municipal Law

This is an excellent opportunity for the ideal candidate with 1-2 years experience and has completed a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant program. The successful candidate is extremely organized, enjoys working in a busy environment, can multitask, and has high attention to detail. Supporting one lawyer within our Municipal Practice Group the primary responsibilities involve: drafting of documents, registration of legal documents within Teraview, file organization, monitoring ongoing files, and following up on deadlines and tasks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an asset for dealing effectively with our clients and other lawyers and professionals. Family Law Clerk - Floater

This is an excellent opportunity for the ideal candidate who has recently graduated from a Legal Administration program and/or Law Clerk Program and has a keen interest in Family Law. In this role you will be supporting the Lawyers and clerks/assistants in the Family Law Practice Group. Your primary responsibilities will be providing administrative support with  preparing court documents for filing, financial statements, drafting standard letters and template documents, preparation of pre-bills, scheduling within Lawyer’s calendars, liaison with clients and opposing Counsel, preparation of orders from endorsements, and various other administrative tasks. You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with clients and other lawyers and professionals in the interests of our clients, have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Civil Litigation Clerk / Paralegal

As the successful candidate you will have graduated from a Law Clerk or Paralegal Program with experience in a similar role.  The experience must include experience drafting statements of claim, writs, garnishments, and motions; as well experience with preparing general correspondence, and deal with courts in various municipalities and regions. You will have excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask, all of which will assist you in working in this fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an asset for dealing effectively with clients and other lawyers and professionals in the interests of our clients. Experience and knowledge with MS Office is a must and strong negotiating skills and experience with PCLaw and Small Claims Court procedures are considered assets.  If selected for the position, you will be required to complete a criminal background check. Legal Assistant

This is an excellent opportunity for the ideal candidate who has completed at minimum a Legal Assistant program through College and has related law Firm experience.  Responsibilities include preparing general correspondence using precedents, copying, filing, handling phone calls, and other administrative duties related to small claims court matters. Must have excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask; which will benefit the candidate while working in this high-volume environment.  In addition, strong interpersonal and communication skills are an asset for dealing effectively with clients, other lawyers, and professionals all in the interest of our clients.  Experience working within an MS Office environment, specifically Outlook and Word are considered an asset.  Please send all cover letters and resumes to careers@svlaw.ca by September 30th, 2018.
