File Opening/Closing Clerk

About the Opportunity:

As the successful candidate you will open client files in PC Law with the exception of residential real estate, condo and builder.  You will also provide back-up and support to real estate new client intake and file opening.  Archiving closed files to be moved to storage.  Undertakes all file management and file housekeeping procedures to ensure filing is constantly up to date including archiving. Dockets time to appropriate lawyer/file.  You may also assist with conflict searches as needed.

About You:

You will bring 1 – 2 years experience in a similar role and have a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent.  You will also have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.  You are a team player who thrives in a work environment that offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic group of individuals both independently and as part of a team.  Exceptional attention to detail and accurate work product is imperative with the ability to multi-task while remaining extremely organized.  You must also have the ability to use your initiative and exercise judgement in identifying issues needing immediate attention.  Proficiency with PC Law, Conveyancer and MS Office is a must and knowledge of Worldox is an asset.

Family Law Clerk

About the Opportunity:

As the successful candidate you will have a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 – 3 years experience in a similar role.  The experience should include drafting documents (applications, affidavits, separation agreements, parenting plans, etc.), preparing financial statements and net family property statements, scheduling the lawyer’s calendar, liaison with clients and opposing Counsel, preparation of orders from endorsements, and other administrative tasks associated with a lawyer’s practice.

You will have excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask, all of which will assist you in working in this fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an asset for dealing effectively with clients and other lawyers and professionals in the interests of our clients. Solid knowledge of Family Law Rules and the Rules of Civil Procedure including filing deadlines. Experience with MS Office is a must and knowledge in the applications of PC Law and DivorceMate are also required.

Junior Civil Litigation Law Clerk

About the Opportunity:

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate who enjoys civil litigation. The role will include organizing and monitoring ongoing litigation files including drafting and delivering pleadings, affidavits of documents, motion materials, trial briefs, document briefs, witness briefs and other materials required to prepare for arbitration or trial.  Preparing monthly accounts for clients as well as reviewing transcripts and following up on undertakings. drafting and filing documents relating to correspondence to clients and opposing counsel including authorizations, bills of costs, consent to judgement, draft judgement and other materials required for settlement or trial, arranging for examinations for discovery and mediations.

About You:

As the successful candidate you will have a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 – 2 years experience in a similar role. You are a team player who thrives in an environment that offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic group of individuals both independently and as part of a team.   You will have excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask, all of which will assist you in working in this fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also required for dealing effectively with clients, other lawyers and professionals in the interests of our clients. Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, legal documentation and terminology. Experience with MS Office is a must and knowledge in the applications of PC Law, ACL, and Worldox are considered an asset.
