Estates Law Clerk

About the Opportunity:

As a successful candidate you will have a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role.  This experience should include preparing and managing all types of estate files, including probate applications, serving and filing documentation with the Court, conducting asset distribution, and providing general administration of estate files, including preparing general correspondence and routine documents.

Marketing & Communications Coordinator 

THE ROLE:

SV Law has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support our Guelph and Elora offices. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and working closely with the Chair of the Marketing Committee, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, contributing to our existing marketing programs, while leading the development of new strategic marketing initiatives and activities. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator stays informed about the market, industry trends, and the competitive landscape, while helping strategize and implement marketing, communication, branding, and advertising plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage SV Law’s social media presence by creating posts, ensuring events we attend and/or sponsor are posted and monitor comments and respond where appropriate

Maintain website as well as design enhancements and edits to create an exceptional user experience; while ensuring content is current and SEO optimized

  • Maintain Intranet by developing and presenting ideas for internal communication strategies, suggesting updates and design edits to the site and ensure content is current
  • Maintain blog page on the website by working closely with lawyers on content creation, and ensuring SEO optimization
  • Maintain firm branding with all material
  • Complete RFP’s
  • Present ideas to help promote the brand or campaign in new ways
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with relevant media contacts
  • Meet with PG leaders to develop marketing plans – to be updated each year
  • Keep promotional materials stocked and research products
  • Plan for attendance at various trade shows and recruiting events by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements; establishing contacts; developing schedules and assignments as necessary
  • Develop and monitor the annual marketing budget for the Firm in consultation with the CAO and the Chair of the Marketing Committee

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or related college diploma with a minimum of 2 years' work experience in marketing, digital advertising, social media management, or a related field preferred
  • Skilled at working with social media (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/LinkedIn etc.)
  • SEO optimization experience
  • Content writing experience e.g. blog posts and web content
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to work with deadlines.
  • Exceptional client service orientation with strong judgement and exceptional time management
  • Creative problem solving
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written skills

Civil Litigation Legal Assistant/Junior Law Clerk

As the successful candidate you will have graduated from a Legal Administration, Law Clerk or Paralegal Program, or equivalent, and have one years’ experience as a Civil Litigation Assistant/Law Clerk. Your primary responsibilities will include: preparing standard letters and template documents, preparing documents using Adobe Acrobat for electronic filing with the Court; drafting statements of claim, motions, judgements, writs, and garnishments; being a liaison with self represented parties and dealing with Courts in various municipalities and regions; and various other administrative tasks.

Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, processes of Small Claims Court, legal documentation and terminology and experience with MS Office are a must.  Knowledge in the applications of Adobe Acrobat and PC Law are considered an asset.

As the successful candidate you will have a Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma or experience equivalent, and a minimum of one (1) years experience in a similar role.  This experience shall include, the ability to complete a full search of title, including abutting lands; the ability to identify title defects and submit requisitions and provide suggested response to requisitions; the ability to prepare and register Transfer of Easements, Release of Easements, submit inquiries to OnLand, Applications to assist in correcting title defects, Construction Liens, Court Orders, and any other title related documents.  Able to assist with Applications for Absolute Title, Non-Converts and Land Severances.  Knowledge of both the Registry and Land Titles system, Planning Act, Residential and Condominium Development and Plan Registration, would be an asset.    Experience with MS Office, Teraview, Teranet Connect and Conveyancer are a must and knowledge of PC Law and Worldox will be considered an asset.

Condominium Development Clerk

About the Opportunity:

As the successful candidate, you will have a minimum of 3-5 years experience as a real estate clerk. Your primary responsibility in this position would be working with the CPG Development team in all aspects of condominium development. Your role will entail drafting of condominium documents; assisting with condition fulfillment; registering required easements or other documents; handling communications from planners, surveyors, engineers/architects, Registry Office/other government representatives, and clients; and assisting with interim occupancies and final closings following registration of a condominium. Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel), Teraview, Conveyancer/Unity and PC Law are used on a regular basis. Knowledge of the Condominium Act and experience with preparing/registering of various documentation in Teraview are considered an asset. Full in-house training will be provided.
