In his tax practice, Ben helps businesses and individuals in disputes with the CRA. Ben helps businesses and individuals facing a CRA audit, and when the CRA has issued a reassessment. Ben brings unique experience to help taxpayers and their accountants. Before joining the firm, Ben spent several years as counsel at Justice Canada. In that role, Ben represented the CRA in disputes with taxpayers before the Tax Court of Canada and other courts. He worked on a wide range of tax problems, from issues affecting small businesses and individuals to complex, international issues.
Ben also practices civil litigation. Ben has represented clients in many kinds of civil disputes, ranging from partnership and shareholder disputes to regulatory and trade disputes. Prior to beginning his tax practice, Ben was a partner at a leading civil litigation boutique in Ottawa. He has represented clients before a variety of courts and tribunals across Canada.
